Taking a gmat practice test before the actual test is just plain good advice. In fact, you should take gmat practice tests as many times as you possibly can. There are many sources of practice tests. One great source is the mba.com store. They offer the GMAT Paper Tests which is a set of three easy-to-download paper tests which are retired and no longer in circulation. Each paper test includes timed sections, an answer sheet, and a way to convert your raw score to the equivalent GMAT score!

Two of the three tests you get have questions for the following sections you can't find in any other GMAT prep materials: critical reasoning, sentence correction, problem solving and data sufficiency. There are many great sources of tests and test prep information but none of them represents the current GMAT 100% so we suggest that you look to a wide variety of materials and scour the Internet for the latest gossip. The better prepared you are, the better the result will be.
